On behalf of my colleagues working, in the Polish Cultural Centre in Uzbekistan in Tashkent, I am glad to welcome you on our website. I hope that the information, presented here, will be useful for you, and will help to learn more about the Polonia (Polish Diaspora) in Uzbekistan, its life and interests, culture, history and traditions of Poland and Uzbek-Polish relations.
First of all, I would like to note that Polonia is not a state or a commercial organization with a clear structure, the central office, etc. Polonia is the associations, groups, unions of Poles living outside Poland. Currently, our Centre brings together people of different nationalities and religions; contributes to the preservation and promotion of the Polish culture and language; celebrates public and national holidays of Uzbekistan and Poland. The center is looking for historical information related to the Polish people who lived in Turkestan and Uzbekistan, and the Polonia associations established in the regions of the Republic Uzbekistan.
The main tasks of “Świetlica” include maintaining the interest and love for the culture, history, language and national traditions of the “historical homeland”. “Świetlica Polska” serves as a bridge between two banks – Uzbek and Polish. It is worth mentioning that since its foundation, the Polish Cultural Centre in Uzbekistan is one of the most brilliant, original and dynamic Cultural Canters.
In addition to all the above, I invite you to follow our publications and news in the social network at http://www.facebook.com/swietlica.uz i invite all who wish to become a member of our friendly Centre to complete a short Member’s Questionnaire.
